I likey

Read first:

There is a set of stairs, with a moving escalator next to it … both of which lead to the same spot on the floor of the upper level. At first no one took the stairs, almost 97% of the people took the escalator. Okay. I think that could be a normal expected result. Then a group of engineers got together, and decided they wanted to change the percentage around. Notice what these scientists did. Clever huh. And now they have reversed the percentages, as a whopping 66% more people take the stairs, than ride the escalator.

+1

That’s cool.

It’s also an interesting example of how networks/memes work these days. I originally saw that vid sometime between 12 and 14 months ago (I think - def 2010-ish anyway), thought it was cool and forgot about it. Then all of a sudden I’ve had it passed on to me or posted on a whole bunch of friend’s profiles. Wonder why it’s taken off again all of a sudden?

Ah yes now I remember, it’s a part of a viral for a Volkswagen campaign

Oh you cynic Block :P:D:hehe:

Damn that did sound bad didn’t it? Well, didn’t mean it that way, obv :stuck_out_tongue:

The thing is it’s a great viral because it works on the right levels and is interesting enough to be passed round for it’s own sake.

What’s curious is that it’s old - Oct 09 - but suddenly has been passed around within circles I frequent. Different, unrelated ones I might add.

As a marketer I’d love to know how that happened and why it happened now.

I’d like to see Elevators & Escalators that worked in a similar way…

whispering stuff about rapi$ts, abortions, making horrible sex grunting & shouting stuff that reinforced general insecurities like, you fat cnut or you fkn ugly wanker / genital oder smelly bastard etc…

Would work the same?

Haha not at all as I’m biggest cynic out there - I mean VW being a car company trying to make people walk just reeks of irony

Seen this before but it’s still pretty cool
