Ive been seeing that Phil and Graham have been producing idm/downtempo type tracks and i think id be something interesting to cover.
First of of all how do you create those glitchy bits? I know some ways but maybe you guys have a different way of doing it.
Ive noticed many of the chord progressions used in some of the music in this genre is dissonant so maybe you can dive into the musical theory elements of the track…
Ive noticed that some tracks sound Lofi as if they had been run through a tape recorder and resampled…what are ways of recreating that in ableton?
Another id like to learn is how to create that atmosphere that almost all tracks i listen to seem to have, sometimes they use vocal bits or breathing or drone like synths in the back of the mix, must be a clever use of reverb.
And Finally the synths/pads they use sounds so lush and beautiful.

Oh well i tried
I’m glad you tried and thanks. This is a great idea. Something that this site needs and would most likely get more people interested in learning here. Phil should really look into this. If it’s something he does for his music, it probably would not be so hard for him to share these techniques. You have two people hear that would really benefit from this and we are not the only two. As being a learning academy ya’ll should be excited to have someone with a tasteful idea like this. Electronic music doesn’t just consist house music. (sarcasm)
