Hi Sonic Academy,br
br
I find that one area my production skills are lacking, or at least lacking the most noticeably, are in my sound design capability. Ive watched all of the sound design oriented courses that you guys offer, but still can’t really seem to get a good grasp on developing the sounds I feel fit into my mixes.br
br
Anyways, one important statement I feel that was made in one of the courses by the instructor was developing the ability to distinguish the different sounds that make up a synth sound. Meaning, for example, picking out the pulse wave one octave below the saw wave that is being used as the main body of the sound. br
br
It would be really helpful if there was a course that focused on developing this skill. It isn’t necessarily genre specific, but would help with the development of synth programming in general. It would also help with hearing a song from our genre of choice, and then actually having a good idea how to go and program the sound. br

One way I feel would help me learn this would be to have the instructor play increasingly complex, but also practical, sounds with the viewer being given time to try and guess what makes up the sound. This could also be done in a genre specific fashion for different types of sounds in each genre (i.e. a tech house bass, deep house bass, electro bass, trance stab, house stab, etc). This may not be the best way, but Im just thinking and typing here (haha). br

Hope you guys find this an interesting topic!
