iPad controller software Griid or TouchAble

After seeing Plastikman Live Friday night with the most amazing visual set I have ever seen I feel inspired.

I see he is using Griid http://liine.net/griid/ as a controller via the iPad, but I also found TouchAble http://www.touch-able.com/Site/touchable.html

Anyone got any thoughts or advice, they are pretty much the same price and I already have the iPad.

OHHHHH SNAPPPP!!!

TOUCHABLE FTW! Thanks man! I was wondering when Touchable would come out. Basically, its the same as Griid, but with features specific to Ableton Live. You can control specific Ableton Paramaters with Touchable where Griid just launches clips.

Its a no brainer!

Touchable seems to make more sense, you can also try this: http://livecontrol.q3f.org/

it’s free, but you need to get touch OSC app and the setup can be a bit of a b*****

bought touchAble last week, amazing piece of software! This app is deep, you are allow to control every parameter within Live, no assignation needed, love it:D

don’t own Griid, but a friend of mine told me that he waste money on that one.

touchAble for sure.

Ah OK thanks, touchable it is!

nice video with touchAble: TouchAble Mash Up (Lou Reed, Chemical Brothers, Queen, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, many more... - YouTube

yo…heres the thing.

i was looking at it last night. I honestly dont think I would get it. I have an APC40 already. I dont really need another Live controller. I would rather have something that could perhaps control Live, but also be able to make music on its own. Perhaps like a cut down version of Ableton.

How is the APC 40?

Amazing as a controller.

No doubt an APC40 would be very cool, but the thing is I only need to spend £10 to get this controller.

share the wealth :stuck_out_tongue:

If I already had an iPad I would get it for sure but like Howie I’ve got an APC 40 too so it would be kind of a waste. Kind of cool that you can get a “lemurish” piece of kit for under a grand though…if you don’t want the 3G stuff on it.

Here is the other thing too, I would love to have the option to just be able to plug it into my MacBook Pro. I would rather not have it running off the network.

The APC just got better ! (though not cheaper)

well i tried that native apc control thing, cost me few bucks, pretty ok, but a bit complicated, useless in live situation. TouchAble on my iPad is 10 times better than my APC 40, everything is so easy access, you’ve got all parameters under the fingers, everything is displayed smoothly, love it! 1 thing i miss from Apc, is the tactile hardware feeling, but not that bad. Actually, i don’t use apc40 anymore!

so +1 for touchAble

ps: Griid is nothing more than just a clip launcher…come on!

I did pick up touchable in the end and am loving it. I’ve actually put away my triggerfinger and am trying to use this exclusively for a more compact and portable setup
