Jeff mills mixdown

If you’ve ever looked at the eq curve on any of jeff mills tracks you’ll see there are NO rules to achieve a great “sound”

By sound i mean the overall vibe and power of the track. Every track Ive looked at has a different curve but they all sound awesome and unique. The majority Stuff I looked at was from waveform transmission 1. I doubt mills was eqing everything with the aid of a spectrum analyser.

He was just using his ears and not looking at a screen for hours on end.

Do your own thing, concentrate on the music and fk the rules

Man… you should start doing seminars!

Thats good advice - 100% true. Hard to remember it sometimes though

If it sounds right then go for it - thats what techno is all about as far as i am concerned

I’m going full circle tbh, having tried to make stuff sound nice, add separate everything I’m looking at muddying things up a bit and distorting as well. Sounds much better.

So a bit if muddyness in your mix can be a good thing

Basically you need to use your ears and not your eyes.

jeff mills = god! this is when i saw him last year ;); lovely live!

Doesnt the mastering add a lot to the overall eq curves you have been looking at, or have you got the actuall mixdowns?
