Joker Jam - Innocence

Morning all, been out of the game for a bit due to baby commitments but finally got round to some production, not quite finished (no mastering yet) but wanted to get some feedback on the mix and sounds before I polish it off!br

This is nice. Good sounds and it’s a pretty good mixdown.br
br
My main thought was that the kick and possibly the bass need to be a fraction louder in the mix. Not much, just a little bit louder.br
br

Cheers for listening David, can always count on you for comments on here!br
br
Yeah I was considering a little more side chaining on some of the elements (mainly strings) to help the kick in the main parts of the track, I’ve not EQ’d everything yet so this should hopefully help too.

I like it! The only sound I’m not a massive fan of is the high beep thing at about 5.45, It’s quite prominent in the mix.br
br
Other than that I would like to hear it again with some more FX (some big crashes and sweeps), I just think that would give it a bit more energy throughout. br
br
But yeah, nice bit of work here :Dbr

cheers xpa, glad you said that cause its the one thing im not totally happy with in terms of the timing and sound, i wanted something orchestral sounding and used one of the exs24 presets but i’m struggling with the attack, just cant get it to sound right. it’s annoying cause it sounds ok on my speakers but whenever i listen to it on any other system or headphones it sounds too loud.br
br
Always room for more FX!

Hey Jimmybr
br
I don’t listen to much trance at all so please take these comments in that light.br
br
I wouldn’t bump the kick up personally. It’s fine for me at the level it is now. The bass, yes definitely just a tad.br
br
The drop needs more oomph. You kill the main synth line at 4:04 but then keep the bleep synth going. Which takes away from the impact of the drop coming back in. I’d reverb tail the main synth line after 4:04, drop away all other elements except the riser. That should have more impact. br
br
When the synth come back in at the drop can you make them bigger/wider? They feel very level with the break but could do with feeling bigger after the drop for me.br
br
 I’ve just heard the beep synth that xpa mentioned and yes it stands out too much for me. Similar comments that I made on David’s track to this.br
br
Hope that helps.

cheers Jon,br

I typically struggle with drops, not sure what it is but it doesn’t seem to matter how much filtering I do I just never seem to nail it, will try the reverb tail idea, see if that adds some extra punch.

Glad you’re back jimmy  Kick sounds good to me…love the clap you’re using its nice and big…the transitions are smooth…oooooo this break sounds nice good job on those stabs dude it’s a solid track

Cheers for the comments James, def my best work to date but always loads of room for improvement, just wish I could spend more time on it, not touched it since I posted it, the 9-5 has become 7-7 recently! :frowning:

You need to sort that out… :stuck_out_tongue:

I tried xpa, handed in my notice before Christmas for a life of professional gambling bum and production, but they gave me a massive pay rise and promotion that I just couldn’t turn down, so here I am…
