Kick 2- confused on what type of VST it is? Effect or Synth? or both?

Hello,
I am familiar with Kickstarter from Cable guys which their plugin is an effect type VST.

What is Kick 2? Does it come up as an effect VST plugin, or a Synth VST plugin?

I am hoping it can be used as an effect VST to do other things besides drums.
