KICK / Diferences between Mono and Stereo

Hi folks,

That’s my first post here, last sunday i was browsing youtube and found sonicacademy, i am delighted with the content here, it’s really helpfull.

I started 3 years ago back in Brazil were i had my first Cubase classes with a psychedelic trance producer, as everything was new for me i did not ask this question by that time but that bugs me since.

My teacher use to say that i should always load my bassdrum into my first MONO channel of my Battery 2.

He said that it’s more punchy or something but i never really got the point. My cousin was studying with me by that time but he took production much more serious than me and now he’s releasing tracks here and there always loading his bassdrum as MONO.

Botton line, what’s the real dif. between Mono and Stereo for the KICK?

Thanks you guys, let’s make some noise in here, it’s way to quiet! Seeyas!

KICK / Diferences between Mono and Stereo

Some info dudes!

i always put my kick on a stereo channel but seeing as its usually not panned it would sound the same as mono output, i guess he puts it in mono so he will not have any pan and so it sits dead centre

I always send my KICKS down a MONO channel from battery, then create a MONO Bus as well and send the kicks to that for EQ/Compression/Limiting.

THE TC NATIVE Limiter can really bring the kick out
