* I would like to know how to get that punch and clarity from these dirty electro drum and bass drums. I don't know , maybe i'm not experienced enough , but these drums sound kind of unique to me. In all drum and bass , i haven't heard any similar drums, maybe found a few close ones. Well like i said , i still have a lot to learn and if anybody knows something would really help. I'm looking to apply the same techniques on other drums
I hear if you get two kicks, pan one hard left and the other hard right, then group them then put a mono over you get a punchier kick…

Excellent tip :w00t::P:D
hah :)) i’ve also read that post , but i’m referring mostly to correctly equing your drums and stuff. Haven’t seen in the tutorials something that closes in to these more aggressive drums , maybe i’ve missed something?
You have to create a hole for your kick, now this doesnt just mean cutting the low from your hats, it also means sorting out where the click of your kick is, the click is what you hear afterall… Also kicks tend to be compressed really hard a nice plugin for some weight for your kicks are the waves rbass and lowband eq. Finally alot has to do with finding the correct sample of a kick, pick one that meshes well with the rest of your track sometimes no processing is needed just by doing a bit of searching.
You can also try layering different,parts of different kicks, the click from one, body from another, tump from another etc, if you wanna be really bad, just find a record thats been released and sample the kick, theres a tutorial on here where they show you how to do it.
If your having trouble finding tracks with a clean kick that you can sample, go over to beatport and donwload any couple of random techno/minimal tracks, you will find with a lot of this type of music that the first 7 minutes its nothing but a kick drum… Sample away… Also if your worried about this techno stealing approach and that someone might hear it and sue you well dont be worried and read below…

well thanks for the advice. The thing is , i tried to avoid sampling as much as i could but since i don’t have a good microphone , i might do it until i buy one.
