If you could use some help finishing that classic dnb tune you started, or need help with the first steps to getting it out of your head and sharing it with the world, get yourself along to Cafe 1001 this Thursday Aug. 4th, where Knowledge is presenting a live production Q&A event with Horizon Music’s Data & Blocks.
Data is a master at creating deep, spacious, hypnotic music that pushes the boundaries of drum & bass and it’s clear when he makes a track it’s not a standard process of switching on the computer and hitting the sample bank. “It’s visual music,” states Data simply. “Heavily soundscaped and ambiently driven, with clean crisp beats and heavy sub-basses, loads of focus on groove and experimentation. I draw influences from all kinds of things, events, stories, music, film, art… Even a conversation, something within it will spark off an idea on how to approach something, or lend a vibe to the track.”
The free event runs from 7-8pm, and will give you the chance to hear how Data & Blocks go about making their trademark sounds, you’ll also get the chance to ask those burning questions that will help you learn more and perfect your production techniques.
Horizons Music will be launch their Dream Thief 2 album with a free after-party from 8-12pm with Subtraction, Blocks, Data plus Hydro B2B Cern hitting the decks.
