Hey guys just thought I would find out how people approach using compression when layering to get things to gel together as one.
I have started layering my kicks and read that compression is the key to getting them to sound tighter as one, and the same goes for layering basslines.
I guess the main question is to compact the sounds together you need quite a high threshold which by ear does make them sound better together but when I think about using this on a bassline wouldn’t it squash all the dynamics of your bassline?
Love to hear peoples thoughts on this topic.
Better to use soft compression methods multiple times, instead of one harsh compression.
Besides that, EQ-ing, filtering & the right volume will work wonders as well.
