M-audi Oxygen controller problem

I know this is a bit of a long shot but i’m having big problems with this controller and Ableton 9. I’m also running windows 8 and have the latest drivers. The problem it that the digital read out on the m-audio keeps fluctuating up and down when not in use but powerd on. This fluctuation seems to start changing random parameter in ableton. So for instance i was working on a synth track in ANA using the mouse and keyboard and not even touching the controller when suddenly the controller changed the volume setting of the fader to maximum. No idea whats causing this but will also try and post in the M-audio forums. Any help gladly accepted.

im runnig abelton 9 with m-audio oxygen 3rd gen win 7 64 bit and had no issuses

Thanks Jamie, Still having problems all be it not as frequent.

Do you have your midi keyboard mappings set to ‘auto assign’ to any new instruments/FX etc within Ableton? I found the same issues with my Oxygen49 where if i had this set the display would show some freaky Preditor’esq language which made the controller unresponsive.br
br
Try turning that off?

Thanks for your help. I’ll give it a try but have no idea how you do it - can you help. Thanks

In Ableton, go to Options - Preferences - Midi/Sync.br
br
Make sure all 3 options (Control Surface/Input/Output) all show None.br
br
Also, the Takeover Mode is set to None. You can enable the keyboard in the Midi Ports section (otherwise it wouldn’t work at all), but these are the only settings i can use to make my control work successfully.br
br
This will disable the auto-mapping of your controller. I kind of prefer this option anyway as i like to map parameters manually.br
br
This is only a suggestion so it might help you in the issues you may be receiving.

Thanks i’ll take a look later on and see if it makes any difference. I must admit the automap thing drives me mad at times.

Hi Guys,br
br
Sorry its been a long time since I last looked at this. I have tried as instructed above however it hasn’t made any difference. Even when my keyboard is plugged in and ableton not loaded the numeric display keeps displaying random numbers. When this is connected to ableton and I midi map some of the controls the random number generation changes the parameters within ableton. I would appreciate any help on this as its very unusable.

sounds like a faulty board… had a similar problem with the pitch bend on my M-Audio keysatation 88… it would send random pitch changes. br
br
Had to get it replaced.br
br
Does it seem to be related to any of the front panel controls… i.e the knobs or mod wheel?br
br
if so you could try disconnecting them from the main board.

Thanks Phil.br

The Oxygen is well over 12 months old now and i’ve put up with this problem for ages thinking it was because there were no Windows 8 drivers for it. I even ended up re-installing Windows 7 so that i could use the M-audio windows driver but it hasn’t worked. I’m really disappointed in this kit and think i’ll send send something to m-audio to complain about it. I’ve just done a quick google and it seems there are lots of other people having problems with random midi and the display just spitting out random numbers and changing parameters within Ableton. I wont be buying any more of their gear :pinch:
