The Motu is a firewire connection and the M-Audio is USB - what does your system allow for?

As far as inputs are concerned it seems the Motu might be abit overkill for your needs?

MOTU gear is amazing and they sound amazing too. MAudio sounds like garbage IMO.

Motu Is top gear, m-audio not so much

Since I can remember (about 8 years now), I’ve always used MOTU gear and it has NEVER given me grief. Their stuff has always worked seamlessly with my other gear and SOUNDS AMAZING!!!

My two cents

One question . do you do Live Recordings ??

if you dont , then buy the M audio. al soundcards are the same , but if you decide to record people or instruments in the future ,. buy Motu

People will give feedback according to their own experience so my opinion is this.

M-Audio are garbage for AD Converters and i really wouldn’t want to record anything in through them but if i was working completely “in the box” then they are rock solid for reliability.

Motu sound fantastic and have some great pre amps and other bits, I would get this if i had a stack or gear or were planning on getting external gear but in my experience they are unreliable (i had 5 in 1 year all went back to the shop because of technical problems)

how ever if i was recording external gear i wouldn’t let that put me off getting another one.

also i know howard had problems configuring his MOTU to work the way he wanted it to and when i looked through the manual to see if i could help, it was a little thin on info.

all that being said if you don’t have monitor’s or you don’t need a volume control on your headphones socket and work completely “In The Box” then your built in audio card is fine because your track will only ever be a bunch of

yes. want to record vocals are the principal goal…

Put it this way Motu is a Mercedes Benz and M-Audio is a Suzuki Swift, which would you rather drive?

I drive a Merc and have an M-Audio interface, I think that is better than driving a Swift and have a Motu :w00t:

ok, i think i’ll choose
