MacBook Pro or PC?

Hello,

Im sure this has been covered at some point before but here it goes once more.

Ive been looking into a macbook and im always on the road with my band and im looking for a laptop to take my work mobile. From computer professionals they have pushed me toward a Mac for the programming of the OS and the simple fact it runs alot smoother than any PC laptop. I use Protools for my musician side and Ableton Live 8 for the dirty side.

I would like some feedback from  a fellow musician for this one.

Cheers

-Sullivan

This topic has been covered so much that there is really no point covering it again - your either a PC person or a mac person

Daddy or Chips, Sullivan - Daddy or Chips  :)

get a book you’ll love it. I did

for djing i have a book pro. and now for home bought a 27’’ iMac… Is really great.

I will recommend you to buy a MacBook Pro…It is having more advanced technology that helps one to perform any sort of work…Also it’s graphics are efficient and fast…

refurbished laptop

imac’s are the boy

Yeah i think SA need to get rid of the forums and just have a search function. Would cater to my headaches…

Thats not very helpful Jan - you come over like a right c unt when you post stuff like that.

And you wanted to be a Mod? ROFL

Why dont you post a link to a prior thread? Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.

This topic is like religion to a lot of people, so I guess getting objective opinions is hard.

I have been a pc user since the first IBM’s came out, but for music production I have to say macs simply work better. I have Ableton installed on both my pc laptop and my macbook pro. They have very similar specs, and the mac just works much better.

On the negative side, I really, really hate the touchpad on the mac - the lack of a dedicated right button annoys me. I know you can configure all sorts of multi-tap stuff, but it’s just not the same. The same goes for Finder - a poor file browser compared to Windows explorer imho.

Funny - I think the opposite in terms of the mac/pc finders…

I can never find a thing on the PC.

I’m pretty sure it’s a case of what you’re used to. I love the search function on the mac though.

I cant wait to get a new laptop… Think I have an option of leasing one & writing it off against tax.

Have to look more into it.

Pity you cant lease a chef & write that off against tax.

What people say about apple is bull****. They are just as unreliable and more expensive to fix. Programs still crash on a mac. Don’t believe the hype. Having a mac won’t make you any better at music production. You’ll just get a hard on when you look at your computer, that is all. It’s all down to what you can afford and what you do with it tgat counts.

It might be worth sticking the original thread where we have discussed this before.
