Macbook pro

Hi im wondering if a macbook pro will be good

as a studio computer.

Im thinking about buying

15 inch Macbook pro 2011

2,2 GHz Quad-Core

Intel Core i7

4 GB 1333 MHz

750 GB

Intel HD Graphics 3000

AMD Radeon HD 6750M, 1 GB GDDR5

Will it be able to handle many tracks? with much processing? like compressors on every track etc.
I don't wanna buy it and then realize it can't do the job.

I’ve been using the previous (pre thunderbolt) model i5 macbook pro for about a year now without any performance problems, with lots of soft synths and effects. My projects typically have 30-40 tracks with compressors, eq’s and other effects on pretty much all of them.

i think you’ll be fine. I’m using a late 2009 regular macbook with no issues.

thanks people! much love / wild_donkeyJR

As an aside, make sure you get the 7200RPM hard drive.  5400RPM doesn’t work so well for multitrack recording and playback.

SSD even better - but they are not coming down in price as fast as I was I would have liked although Crucial supply them at a much better price than the official apple version

Cheers
