Major push needed

Guys and Gals

Can i just ask all you fellow EDM people out there, seriously thinking of giving up.

Have any of you guys or gals got any tips on keeping interested in the tracks you produce. at what stage do you thing the track is worth finishing. I can normally create some nice chord progressions, struggle a bit with melodies but always just stop dead with the song. i guess i expect it to sound perfect from the start which is my problem.

any tips on how to keep interested along with inspiration.

Is it the effects and mastering stage that brings it to life.

thanks in advance

I always found getting something played in a club by a mate was always a great source of inspiration and motivation.

So if you have any mates who DJ Get them to play one of your tacks in a club.

Go back and listen to some of your older stuff, laugh at how badly it was produced despite the fact you actually had some good ideas going. Then realize you are going to improve even more, and imagine pumping out stuff with similar ideas but with your best production yet.

Rinse and repeat then sit back and look at how much ground you’ve covered between your stuff and professional recordings.

To each his own, but it works for me.

Cheers mate.

Yes, once u mix and master a song it will sound completely different. I think people get stuck in the middle of making a song bc they spend way too much time on FX and mixing, when they should be focusing on recording and then arranging.

At first, Don’t waste ur time trying to get ur kick to sound perfect, or ur baseline to sit just right. Spend ur time creating a drum pattern and creating ur synth patches. Then arrange the whole thing. Once the track is completely arranged, then go in and spend time on reverb, delay, compression and other fx’s. A lot of peeps get stuck spending way too much time on fx b4 they even have a song, and this really hinders the creative process

You need to finish tracks, the only way you will ever make a good track is by actually finishing some. It doesn’t matter if they are not that good, as long as you get better each time eventually you will make a good one.

To stop getting bored of it, once I have the drums and the bass (and maybe stabs or a lead, but not necessarily) I will give the track a rough arraignment. That makes the track seem more real.

Watch this video, I recommend it for any producer, but mostly beginners who always struggle to finish their tracks.

It has helped me so much, and its crazy how much your productions can evolve from just looking at the whole production process in a new light.

DeepChord’s tip of the day to young producers:

Producers / musicians need to stop striving to be good and strive to be unique. There is enough ‘good’ around, but almost no unique. Try to look at things a little differently.

And just read a interview on Traxsource with Murk.

In a world of glorified bonus beats, half decent songs really shine!
