Marcel Woods/Chocolate Puma/D-ramirez progamming synths

Well as the title says all these are videos in the new edition of Futre music. I know a few of you were interested in seeing Marcel woods. I have it delivered and its just dropped through the letter box today!! See you in a few hours when i have taken in the vid fest

Just picked it up today as well Mate… Looking forward to watching them later!

Was watching them today actually! Watched the chocolate puma ones and now on video 2 of Marcel Woods.

All good

watched it over the weekend. they all seem like cool guys, but not much to be learnt from any of them tbh.

funnily enough there was no “this is why we run this ****!” comments… hmmmm…

I agree not the best vids to be learning from but still quite interesting. Sometimes there really good and show you a lot of technique other times producers are a little bit scepticale about showing you there techniques/plugins etc etc. Still worth a look though.

Not overly impressed with it this month… I think the FM guys (and CM for that matter) are missing a trick. They are getting un restricted access yet they have no structure to their interviews, surely they should ask specific questions on how producers achieve a particular sound, or technique and get a walk through of how they done it. The sound is crap too, we are in the audio business and they cant even set up a decent mike… they need to take a long hard look a how they do things, its just wasted opportunity.

+1

Jeez… That D Ramirez one was a bit of a Pi$$ take.

I’m still getting Emails from Bobby @ ICON Collective giving me his Cell Phone Number & saying that they’re doing webcasts with other students… I’ve got a 1/2 scholarship, blah, blah, blah…

Really pushy outfit. Couldnt be bothered telling them to stop mailing me. Let them bang their LA heads off the wall.

In the Studio with Marcel Woods?

Its in the Studio with Walt. Marcel dyes his hair while Walt makes the tracks.

LOL!!!

Haha!

Just finished watching the Chocolate Puma ones. Now they really cracked me up. That Guy Rene was gas altogether!

Very nice people. Very genuine. Big difference between them & Marcel.

However, it was interesting to see how they work - but agree, its a bit info light.

Also watched this morning, an old FM Disk that I had w.James Reynolds on it.

Think it was June or July last year - FM216. That was pretty cool. Dont think its on the net… but its worth watching. He’s got some nice little bits about using reverbs & compressors… and in terms of layering the rhythms in a Tech House track. Hes another bang on Guy.

This is what im talking about - some of the vids are really good such as the james reynolds one - he really breaks his music down and shows you lots of techniques with different parts etc. Then others such as the Marcel woods one its more like just snippets of his track and no real technique etc. One of my all time favourites ‘in the studio with’ is Chris Lake - this lad really goes out of his way to try and help people.

Yeah the Chris Lake one was really good, so was the BK one, infact the BK was was REALLY good because it was all presented similar to how SA do their videos, so you could see what he was doing whilst it was explained well.

This is what these ‘in the studio with’ videos should be about, it should be about sharing your knowledge and some tips / skills to help up and coming budding producers.

There seems to be too many out there who are happy to boast and talk about their track but not really show you the techniques behind them.

These videos in particular wasn’t too bad, Walt & Marcel did mention a few tips here and there, the Chocolate Puma one didn’t really say anything other than they like to use Paralel Compression, although it would have been nice to see them USING it and maybe have an opportunity to see their settings or them applying the effect as demonstration.

The SHM video was a complete waste of time watching and shouldn’t have been recorded at all.

If i wanted to watch 3 guys boast and big themselves up I’d just attend a local millionaires club.

What do y’all think about the lastest batch of D.Ramirez Vids Guys? Bit wnaky, dont ya think? Got a little bit of stuff from this one I supppose - but it just doesnt live up to the expectations. Besides - the song is awful… and the whole idea for making the track - sub atomic life. Makes me cringe.

I’ve a ton of respect for the Guy, cos he’s genuine & gives out everything that he can, but I cant help but feel that his sincerity is being used or even comprimised by these ICON guys. D Ramirez is a legend & its because of him personally that many people got their dose of modern production technique.

They - ICON - seem like real money hungry m’fo’s - total opposite of what FM & Ramirez have represented up to now. Sure, FM do big name gear reviews & have a mag full of adverts - FM are definitely running a business - but I dont think that type of commercial activity is not in tune with what we are used to.

I’m sure they are not aware of the hard sell that ICON are doing. But the Vids are, as Howie would say - Ghey.

I haven’t watched this one yet but I really liked the Vocal production one that he did in episode 2.

I’ve not seen 1 or 3 though.

Are you surprised though? All these products from the US always comes with the BS and OTT hardsell.

I feel like their methods are like psychological robbery, with less care for what the customer needs but more for getting as much money as possible out of people.

Even when you look at Fader Pro, the package was the same price as a year membership at SA and all you get is one tutorial.

I mean literally, they all seem to be at it. I don’t know if any of you have heard of the Mystery Method? Well the had seminars and it would cost you up to $2000+ just to attend their weekend ‘bootcamp’?!

Chocolate puma??? I thought it was junior soprano, was waiting for him to whack the other guy

LOL - Junior! I thought that too… couldnt place the name though! Class

Uncle june is THE man. Love him. You stupid f****** C***!

When it comes to 'ard people, Bricktop from Snatch is one of the few people i’d want to mess with…
