If you’ve been thinking of getting Maschine but couldn’t make your mind up whether the money was worth it, the official 1.6 update has just been released and bloody hell - what an update! As well as the phenomenal VST hosting which basically turns all your software into hardware, NI have decided to give away a fully working, individually registered copy of Komplete Elements with it!

Yes, resist temptation. You know it is the right thing to do.

Worth the wait.

DUDE!!! It’s so sick, lol. Thanks for that. I just realized again why I was saving for it. I, however, do want to buy a Maschine sometime this year as well.

Bugger. You’ve got me looking at it now. And I was saving for a new MacBook Pro…

What do you have right now? Can the MBP wait? What speed is your processor?

I’m running a MBP 2.5ghz now and love it to bits but I dropped the bloody thing at work a few weeks ago. It still works OK, but its got a big dint in the bottom left corner and has started doing some weird stuff it never did before (dock stops responding then pops back on, can’t find the drive sometimes when restarting etc.) I’ve started saving now in the hopes it will last until I can afford a new one.

So a question for all those lucky Machine owners

I have been offered some live gigs later on in the year - would you think I would need an APC40 as well as a mashine or could i get away with just the machine to launch clips

I wandered into my local Guitar Center and played with NI’s Maschine–it was really fun. Great sound out of the box, and I really enjoyed the hardware to tweak the step sequencing–though got a little lost how to navigate to the current position in the sequence.

So I’m curious how does the Maschine play with Live? Can I map it’s tracks to different Ableton drum tracks to remix and tweak? Or do you just pipe in the audio?

wait, I just bought the Maschine 3 weeks ago. Can I download Komplete Elements for free on their website?

@ DJ Amenzo:

To download Komplete Elements you should have been sent an email from NI with the serial number for your update. If you haven’t, I’d get in touch with customer services.

@ lattetown:

You can map to Drum racks a few ways - 1. Assign a pad to MIDI out and then assign the desired track in Ableton to received MIDI IN from Maschine 2. Drag and drop a MIDI pattern sequenced in Maschine straight into Ableton 3. Press SHIFT+CONTROL to enter MIDI Controller mode and the Maschine hardward becomes a fully mappable MIDI controller. There are several templates floating around the Maschine forums that specifically map Maschine to Ableton drum racks in a number of ways.

@ slender:

I would use an APC40 for dedicated control of Ableton and then leave the Maschine controller free to work its magic.

Sorry I’ve been so long replying - busy few weeks a work. Hope those answers help.

Yeah I thought that would be the case - thanks mate

Just saw this

tempted by it now VERY much

Roll on end of next month
