I have been having some issues setting up my master channel Dynamics to make my tracks sound Louder. usually i put 2 limiters 9 ( one limiting Hard and another soft) then a compressor . but seems that i am having lots of feedback in the Master BUS.
I was making a research about it and i found out that u only need a limiter and a maximizer to make ur tracks loud.
I tried but seems that after using the Maximizer i can hear alot of crackling sounds od the Master .
can someone give some tips in how the Maximizer should be set up ? or if u use to limiter and a compressor what usually are the desired setting to not kill all the transients ?
thanks ahead of time
Hey, I just use Ozone. I wouldn’t use a maximizer. As a matter of fact, I would highly advise against it. Use a maximizer to make a sound stick out if you need a last resort to do so, but not on the master bus. That could just make the audience ears tired.
Stick Ozone on the master and call it a day.
thanks howie i guess i should start saving money to buy Ozone :). do u know any other alternative maybe apart from the Ozone?
i personally see no problem sticking a maximizer on the master bus to bump the volume. just dont squash the life out of it.
if you’re getting crackling you are overdoing it!
^^ have a look at our mastering videos for a bit more insight ^^

Thanks Bryan ! i probably going to go back and check those videos again
The problem is that alot of newer producers will throw a maximizer on absolutely everything when in fact it should be used very sparingly.
its really rare to see even new Producers to use in excess Maximizer. i think that most people prefer to use more compressor and Limiters rather than a maximizer IMO.
Don’t know if its of any use, but this month’s Future Music has its feature all about maximising volume (as well as advice on how it can easily be overdone).
does anyone else find that ozone makes things quite piercing in the high end and sucks a bit of the life out of it?
if i do it with something like waves l3 it still gets quite piercing
perhaps its because im putting it on at the end?
Ehh, I posted some advice, but realized I was in the wrong area. Tried to delete my post, but it wouldn’t let me. Cheers!
