If I put a professionel track into live … it seems that the mainpart has no dynamics like it almost always hitting around 0db ( or -0,3 / 5 depends on the ceiling ) … without over limiting/clipping … how they do that ? How much compression should i apply.
Dude, read up on the basics of mixing, EQ'ing, leveling, mastering etc. As I've understood it you should leave headroom in the mixing stage, and then in the mastering stage you make everything louder.
Mix your track around -6db to give a nice headroom for mastering so you can pull the volume up without distorting the audio.
There’s a tutorial on mastering coming up soon I believe. It’s done by a pro mastering guy. Phil was talking about it briefly in the Ian Donovan masterclass. Should definitely help you out.
As if this can be answered in one thread… I have read many books on mastering and still have a lot to learn.

Any that you might recommend? I’ve got the Bob Katz one ‘Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science,’ and am intending on reading it over the summer. Any others?
I know a lot about mixing, but my mixes tend to have more dynamics then professionell ones…So my goal is to come as close as possible to a pro track: in Frequency and Dynamics e.t.c. . No i’m coming pretty close!
Thanks for the advice with the headroom. Cause first i thought i need to make it as loud as possible before the final master ( limiting e.t.c.). I give it a try!
I think i will buy the book, too Looks dope.
