Hi,
I would like to know if you have any experience with the liquid mix, I have one which I use for mastering but I never know which compressor or EQ to use, there are so many and I would like to know which one’s work best for mastering progressive, tech house tracks.
Cheers,
Dave
Hi, I don’t really know the answer sorry, but I have been looking at the liquid mix myself. I did see this and thought you might be interested:
http://www.donstrenz.com/LiquidMix/tabid/71/agentType/ViewType/PropertyTypeID/1/Default.aspx
It has a each of the compressors and a description of what it sounds like.
I think if I do get the liquid mix I would pick a couple of the compressors and use them for everything until I knew them well.
To start with I would use the STELLAR 1/ US CLASSIC SOLID STATE 1
which is an 1176 limiter good for general limiting and the all button mode is used for NY compression.
LEVELLER/ US CLASSIC TUBE 3 -which is LA-2A
BRIT DESK2/ BRIT CLASSIC DESK 2 - SSL 4000 G+
Both because I have heard of them, so they must be really ***** good.
I would also be interested in opinion from someone that actually knows their stuff, rather than reading up on the Internet like me :)
you can get snapshots with all the proper name here:

The problem is, there are to many I use SSL on my master, so far it’s my favourite.
To get better idea of what to use each comp for, google proper names, you should be able to find manuals, etc.
