Meat - new track under a new name

I’d appreciate it if you have the time to listen to let me know what you like. Warning - very ambient!

Meat by The Blown Apart

Thanks to anyone kind enough to listen.

Sounds cool man… Just gave it a quick listen - did you do that in Maschine?

Cheers ICN!

I used Maschine inside Ableton (how I tend to work most of the time these days). The pads at the start were Ableton and the slow bassline at 3.34 was from Maschine. I’m also discovering the magic of Izotope’s Alloy and Ozone which really lift everything.

cool track, enjoyed, nice sounds

very nice mate;)

Wheres the beat :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice sounds and elements

Still got to get one of those babies

cool soundscape…

Wow - thanks everyone. I appreciate how busy everyone is so for you all to take the time to listen is very kind indeed.

i’m interested to know what this maschine thing is, anyone can give me a run down?

I really liked this track though I think for an ambient track too many things come in way too suddenly? I havent listened to much ambient material though so I cant really talk about it much…

Past the 2:56 mark the track was a beauty though… As others have said very nice sounds used nice one!

I haven’t really ever listened to this genre, but it def did relax me a lot lol. It actually did sound preeeetty nice:)

Maschine is a hardware/software hybrid sampler developed by Native Instruments that is modelled on the MPC samplers of old. With its latest update, however, it can host VSTs which essentially turns all your software into hardware as the different parameters of each plugin are automatically mapped out for you on the hardware controller. It can be used as a standalone ‘mini-DAW’ or as a plugin itself.

I was wondering this myself - its the first track I’ve written like this and wasn’t sure whether I had the pace right. I remember Brian Eno describing ambient music as closer to painting than it is to music in the traditional sense which is one of the things that really interests me about this genre.

Thanks again everyone for your very kinds words and taking the time to listen right through!

interesting you should say about painting cos thats kinda how i describe my own tracks, i just draw everything in building upwards trying to create something i find interesting, i dont even use theory anymore, just layer things up till i find something im happy with :), not that im unique or anything, i’m sure alot of the guys here have a similar process…

I wish I could use that “Painting” ethos, at the moment all I can do is just keep fudging with massive till I make a half decent sound and then build everything around that (which usually flops BTW!).

I definately like the concept of these tracks, definately need to give them a try again, what originally put me off them was the dark ambient tracks, genuinely scary stuff…

Don’t listen too any of my tunes then I will not be held responsible for soiled underwear

I also remember Eno talking abiut a painting - I try and think of mine as a message or a story

You are the reason I dont buy white panties anymore! That and I realised males arent supposed to wear those… :frowning:

Again, thanks very much everyone for both listening to my track and then commenting on it. You have all been very kind and given me a lot to think about.

Regarding Brian Eno’s view on the relationship between modern music (not just ambient) and painting, I’ve posted a link to a lecture he gave at Moscow not too long ago:

I should warn you it clocks in at just under an hour and ten minutes, but it is really interesting stuff. Enjoy!
