Melody to MIDI

Hi folks,

I have been playing with sound design for a lot of time already, and I come up with some nice lead sounds and plucks. My problems start when I imagine a melody in my head (like “ta-da-da-da… ta-dadadaaa”) and then I spend like really huge amount of time to construct the MIDI notes and chords for it - and worst of all sometimes I’m unable to do it the way I like :frowning: … So my question is: how can I practice this? Also what is the scientific term for this: converting imaginary melody into MIDI sequence… maybe there is some book with exercises that can help me…

Thanks to all that respond

I think its really a mix of musicianship and improvisation both are things you just have to practice.

Ive been playing keyboards for 25 years and it still takes me an age to come up with a good riff.

Thanks Phil :)) 25 years??? So far with my dreams of making the next dancefloor smashing hit :))))
