Micheal Woods' Bassline!

kind of similar in his songs, such a fast bass i really dont know how he does it, it really drves a long the track! can someone help? really want t make it

Sounds like a simple running bass - one note every 16th usually alternating between 2 octaves - e.g. 1st note on G1, 2nd note on G2, third note on G1, 4th note on G2 etc.

Also i think it needs to be mentioned Michael Woods is an awesome producer, hes got **** loads of experience coupled with loads of expensive analogue gear all going through a pro tools rig… Not saying its all about the gear but it certainly does help…

yeah i was thinking it was that type of bass but i think in Domino it could be the same note on a 16th grid on every note if u have a listin… stil cant get it to sound like it tho :frowning: driving fast yet mixxing well with everythin eles :frowning:

domino just sounds like a sustained note with sidechain - saw type with some white noise mixed in

the others something similar, but they all seem to have a shuffled 16th rhythm to them

have a look at the htm techno course for use of shuffles.

try 50/60 %

It could be the LFO firing at 1/16 with a filter control on a sustained note. Try that, you’ll find sidechaining it heavily as mentioned above will help.
