Can that Novation controller be used in conjunction with the Vestax VMC600, so that the Novation can be used to launch clips and the Vestax used as a mixer?

Yeah, absolutely! I didn’t know how much cash you wanted to spend tho. You can have as many midi devices set up as you could connect to. The crappy thing is that you will have to map the Vestax with Ableton.
Thing is mate, yes it’s not an APC, but you’re saving over £200 with it and to be fair, it’s a pretty cool bit of kit.
Just depends how much cash you can flash.
To be fair, i think it looks pretty good for the money. Still to have a go on one though, it’s only just come out.
I want the functionality of a dj mixer with the ability to launch clips. If it takes 2 controllers to do this, I don’t mind.
If you have the cash, I would buy the Vestax and the APC40. I like the ability to twist knobs alot! Also, here is one very good reason to go with the APC40 over the Launchpad. Lets say you’re creating something and you make a macro. You cant automate the macro live with the Launchpad b/c it has no knobs. You cant do it either with the Vestax, because its dedicated to the mixing. What do you do?
Get the APC40.
Not only does it have the knobs, but it has pan, send capability, and 8 channels for volume faders + the master. And cuing control. I’m pretty sure the Novation doesnt have that.
I got the APC40 back in July - as soon as Sweetwater had them in stock. It’s a great piece of gear - the device / track knobs work amazingly well on it. The Novation - even at 1/2 the price would still be only 1/2 as good. Plus - the faders are actually quite usable. I’ve stopped using my Remote 37SL completely - except for the keyboard
If I lost my APC40, I’d be shelling out another $400 for a new one within a month.
I fully agree, of course i’d get the APC over the novation, but then like i said it’s that much more money. If you’re broke and need something for now, then it’s better having something than nothing sometimes.
Just like i’d love to have the CDJ 2000’s but at £1500 each it isn’t going to happen. I’d also love the Event Opal speakers, but at £2500, it’s very unlikely.
Go for what you can afford, DONT get into debt.
