will all midi keyboards be compatible with Live 8 or will I have difficulty with live 8 finding the keyboard, I notice in preferences there is a list of compatible ones, but none of them i have been looking at, just don’t ant to buy one and find it wont recognise it.
cheers.
I haven’t had any problems hooking up a midi keyboard either through the midi interface on my sound card or the USB sort. The main thing is to go into the settings for midi and make sure that you have turned it on. (It’s in preferences under midi sync.) But usually it works without a problem if you have USB and installed the drivers properly. BTW I have only used PC’s so I am not sure how mac’s will react but it can’t be that different.
And don’t forget to adjust your latency if you haven’t already. That will be the reason you have that delay if you haven’t adjusted it. (And if your using a crappy sound card good luck with that.)
Hope that helps!

in general they should all work.
the benefit of having one of the ones that Ableton recognizes is that it overwrites one of the controller presets with mappings that make sense for Ableton, i.e. if your controller has encoders, faders and drum pads in addition to the keys themselves, then these will be automatically mapped in a way that makes sense when you use them on a specific device - it’s quite a nice feature but certainly not neccessary
