That guy is retarded. He has a post entitled “5 minute techno music making tips”. I dont care what anyone says, you can not make a bad track in 5 minutes, let alone a good one.
Hey everyone!
I’ve got an ableton project here for you to download.
https://www.yousendit.com/download/aHlSWWVyTEQ3bUN4dnc9PQ
This is something that I’ve decided not to use but I think there’s plenty of tips and ideas in there. I’m sure you guys will be able to get something out of this.
Any questions let me know!
slender (22/08/2010)
OK this is from another forum but it seems to be working for me
i’ve been programming my hi-hat sounds by taking a sustained white noise, then hand editing each hit in with a volume envelope. it takes FOR EVER, but the results are well worth it.

Yeah, I do something similar I suppose.
I’ve got my drum machine - Ultrabeat - but you could do same with anything that you can assign commands to velocity.
Its Velocity sensitive. The Note lengths are also Gated.
You can put a LFO on the White noise generator in UB & when theres a longer note, theres a little bit of a roll. The LFO can be hooked up to velocity- so you’d hear a different LFO roll on each one… and if its gated, the longer the note is the more of the LFO roll you hear - lets say on 32’s or whatever its on.
Kinda cool. These things are trial & error… sounds mental on simple bass or perc-y things.
If your Synth has a modulation matrix option, you can make all sorts of wierd (and sometimes usable stuff) if you assign different parameters to Note Velocity.

heres a tip for using the tip i gace earlier lol…place the grooves in Documents\Ableton\Library\Grooves.if using them have your kick and snare on a different channel and make sure you turn the velocity up on the groove.

+1
Post @ your own Risk. I’ve never posted there - Often felt tempted to register & abuse someone who was being a D!ck to some Noob.
Opposite to here. I prefer here.
i do as well.i think the reason so many are quick to be negative on that board is they dont know how to answer those “noobs” questions, much like kvr(except with kvr their are some who could help but wont because then they couldnt sell you their upcoming product).its easier(and poses less risk of exposing how much of a moron you are) to tell someone that asks you a question,ie “how to design a sound similar to so and so”? to not try and sound like that,be original, **** off!.still there is some worthwhile info to be gathered from there, though you have to dig for it.

don’t you find most forums are like that, this is the friendliest forum on the net and i love being part of it.
Some good stuff on it alright. But its frustrating to navigate.
The owner of the site must get a cut every time this Pic is posted: Its all over the site (well, last time I looked through the entire production forum 2 years ago)
“Oh… What does Gaiser use to make his basslines? Tell me a good synth to make minimal on… Try this you ****ing talentless ****”

its basically how noobs with a handful of misinterpreted information gathered from the internet behave.basically youll never see paul frindle or bob katz blow up on someone for asking a question.

thanks for this ted!
great idea, we need to do more sharing
TOMS.
___________________________________________
Someone was talking about Toms in another Thread, so hopefully this might be handy for some of Ya!
Included here are some Bounces from an Logic ES1 Patch that I have for Toms.
Its a really Phat Sound. Usual use is for an Offbeat Bassline… Later I’ll open up the filter & stick a white noise blast on the bass.
The Filter setting in this patch - 24db Classic is based on a Moog Filter. It probably adds to the sound in the ES1 a fair bit… so I’m not sure whether the results you’ll get in a sampler will be the exact same…
But something @ 24db is going to be what you probably need to be using.
The .wav’s all start around a 1/16 off… so just adjust the start time in the samples. I tried it in Simpler in Live & they work fine.
All samples are Filter Open full with Full Release. Mess around with your samplers filter & Relase to taste. Theres no compression or EQ on them, so work away.

Glad to know i’m part of a friendly forum. As i don’t go on any other forums i wouldnt really know any different.
I only ever regulared one other forum in the past, that was Tidy.com, i used to go on it for years but it was so hostile, just couldn’t be arsed to be part of that anymore so i stopped using it a few years back, it’s just immature acting like that, kinda reminded me of being at school.
It’s funny because it’s always the p*ssys who clearly got bullied at school who give it the ‘big man’ on forums, only cos they know they can’t get punched whilst hidden behind a screen somewhere in the world.
Welcome to the love in
This guy has posted some interesting free samples
interesting how fast that went south.
