Mixing: Creating Space --- feedback 2 questions

I’ve watched the Mixing Creating Space tutorial three times now and I must say it’s one of the best that Sonic Academy has to offer. The techniques and tips are extremely helpful and crucial to getting your music to have that professional shine. Thanks for putting that one together for us!br
br
I just have a few questions to ask about techniques and tools that were used in the tutorial…br
br
At one point in the tutorial you turned down the Transient Envelope of a clip you were using in Live. What exactly did that do and is there anything comparable to it in Logic?br
br
Later in the tutorial you used a Utility to remove stereo width from a particular sound in the mix. What exactly did that do and is there anything comparable to it in Logic?br
br
br
Thanks for considering my questions and for producing such a stellar tutorial!

The envelope thing is a function that i havnt seen in any other daws.br
br
Its taking the clip dividing it in to individual beats and then giving you control over the length of the divided parts.br
br
I think logic has the ability to detect peaks and cut clips up then you could shorten them manually.br
br
Logic also has a transient envelope plugin i think that could give you some similar control.br
br
compression with a slow attack and fast-ish release could also give you a similar result… its really emphasizing the attack portion of the sound and lowering the body so things dont sound as full.br
br
This free plugin will give similar control to the utility although its just on/off instead of 0-100 so not quite as much control… but still lets you separate the mid and side.br
