Mixing desk USB/Audio Interface

Guys

I aint got a mixing desk at the moment and i am looking at buying one.

The one i have been looking at is a Behringer Xenyx 1832fx

I dont want to spend an awful lot on one and this one has a really good rating.

My problem is that I dont use a lot of hardware. I use ableton live along with vst plugins.   The mixer comes with a USB/Audio interface and the specs quote

“This XENYX mixer comes with a USB/Audio Interface for direct plug & play connectivity to your Windows® or Mac® computer. Get your audio to and from any DAW and make your XENYX mixer the perfect globetrotter in both analog and digital worlds.”

Basically what i want to know is if i connect this to my PC, will i be able to control my separate channels which have vst instruments assigned to them in ableton on the desk. and will i be able to use it as a midi device.

Like i said i dont use a lot of hardware and am a bit confused with the term audio interface ???

thanks in advance guys

This is really an audio mixer and with out a soundcard wth loads of outputs it wouldnt be much use in controling ableton etc.

Might be a better option. this is just a controller with motorized faders there are no audio facilities.

Nice one phil. that would have been quite disappionting lol

i have looked at the Fader version and the rotary one, i think im gonna buy both and run them both together

Thanks again Phil

very welcome!

I toyed with getting them a few times… friend has one and it seemed cool.

Im looking at this for the new studio… [url]Avid - Technology and tools that empower media creators

just moved house and building a new studio in the attic. will be doing a video blog on the soundproofing and construction etc.

Nice looking controller fella, i want one lol.

Hope the house move went well. no stress and that.

Must be a pain in a way cos i assume you had the sound just the way you like it in you old place. eh i suppose you can consider it a new challenge.

Post some pics up when your done phil so we can have a look at your kit.

I have already ordered the Behringer controllers, cant wait. like i said if i have bought the other one it would have been  a huge disappointment so thanks again.

Oh and the Trance Tutorial is ace. Learning a lot from it. Cant quite get the hang of the clappy verb thing you had going but im sure i will get it.

Cheers Dude
