Mixing Kick & Bass

Dear Community,

I have a Question about Mix Kick & Bass, specially the EQ Part.

I mix it following (house electro tracks).

1.) tune Kick & Bass that both have the same pitch.

2.) EQ

3.) sidechain

I usually want to have a higher puncher Kick and a lower Bass so I do following =>

Kick:

lowcut 30 Hz, Cut around 80 Hz, Lift around 120 Hz to get more Punch, Cut around 200 Hz

Bass:

lowcut 60 Hz, Lift around 80 Hz, Cut around 120 Hz, Lift around 160-200 Hz.

My Questions:

Are my EQ settings correct?

Highest Peak on a Kick tune to A is around 55 Hz, for the Bass the Highest Peak is when it playes A note around 112 Hz, so I remove evertime a lot from the Bass by Cutting around 120 Hz to get a puncher Kick

Do you have any other EQ Tricks to get higher puncher Kick and nice Bass sitting together?

thanks

could you post an example of the track to hear it.

EQ settings are very specific to the material they are being applied to… there is no settings that work for everything.

I dont think you ever really have ‘correct’ EQ settings cos every track is different.

I will Post an example, but before I ll try to seperate bass low and high frequency.

At the moment I don’t have a sub bass track and high bass track only one which covers both.

Thanks for reply

I guess it all depends on the sounds your working with. There is no one size fits all when it comes to eqingbr
but its got to see your tuning your kicks
