Different Uses for Multiband Compression

View Course

In this short video, Bluffmunkey looks at three different ways we can use a Multiband Compressor to help fine tune our mix.

By pinpointing certain frequencies, we can compress a defined area and help make a kick more powerful, push a pad frequency away from vocals to stop clashes and add more punch to the body of our kick and bass bus.

Very nice explanation

Can you use dynamic eq to same or is it different on that vocal example

You might be able to achieve something similar with a dynamic EQ but you won’t get the same result since compression also affects transients and the all signal loudness and then glue the signal.

Should you use this method, then place a compressor right after the Dynamic EQ, but it will sound slightly different.

Concise and useful, really enjoying these short Bluffmunkey vids
