Mixing the low end

Its very frustrating that it feels like I’m always guessing at the bottom end of my mixes due to not having the budget at present for better monitors and room treatment.  I have the Alesis M1 Mk2 which are decent ‘budget’ monitors but I’m not sure about their bass response and I’m not sure about the acoustics in my room either.

I can take my mix and play it on various home and car stereos but that still isn’t gonna help me much with whats going on in the lower ranges.

If I send my mixes for mastering should a good engineer come back and give me advise about the mix ie. ‘Your bass sucks - its hardly even there’ kind of thing?

Also, do any of you SA guys do mastering or hire out your studio for mixing?

Well actually i do kind of masters in my studioroom but i must say that this solution it is not so indicated for Professional Purpose, cause i’d need a different setup, almost different from where i do mix.

Now i got KRK VXT8 and on Bottom End they kick ***, i really love the taste.

Btw a professional Master Engineer can without anyproblem, fix the lows of your track if this was what you wanted to know!
