Mladen Tomic deep bassline

So, some of you have probably heard of some of Mladen Tomic’s tracks. Pretty simple but really groovy stuff. Its all in the bassline I find, again fairly simple, nothing too crazy and he uses pretty much the same kinda sound in all his tracks.

Anyway, so I’ve been trying to get a similar sound within Ableton.

I watched a tutorial video on here last night, regarding a Wehbba bass sound that is kinda similar to this sound. That was made on Sylenth. I’m trying to recreate this with Operator.

From the sound of it it seems like its just a low sine wave with some glide turned on so that it is a little smoother. I know alot of it is down to the relationship between the kick and bass and possibly the compression etc he adds to it.

But are there any other tips to getting this kinda sound. Perhaps try a really low filtered saw perhaps?

I am after exactly the same sound for my basslines. Love Mladens work.br

You can get pretty close by using a Simpler and changing the settings to Glide/Portmento. In “How To Make Tech House 2011” Phil does a lesson on making Glide bass. If you watch that your get a spark of inspiration.br

You can use a classic 808 kick and one of the key things to do is to turn up the Attack so you don’t get the punch of the incoming note. Also to change the Glide in the bottom right of Simpler to Portmento or Glide depending on how you want it to sound. br
Turn on the loop button and dial in a fade with the fader dial and move the start point away from the heavy transient. br
Make sure your midi notes overlap slightly too so there will never be a new incoming note.br
There will be some volume and frequency automation in there somewhere too.br
It’s as easy as that!!! :Dbr

I’m still learning this technique myself but I hope I was of some help.br
