Monitors

Hello everyone, I’m going to USA in march and want to take that opportunity to improve my studio gear. Currently I own a pair of krk rp rokit5, theyre good, but not good enough in the low end. So, I’m looking for some advice, which high end monitors (price range 1k-2k) are really good?

Why don’t you just get a sub?

I’m getting some crackling sounds from my right monitor and I don’t think these ones sound that good. Personally, I don’t like its high freqs either.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of Yamaha HS80M’s and the HS10W sub. Probably the most accurate sound you’ll find.

If hes got over 1k to spend he doesnt want Yamaha Hm80s lol. Check out Genelecs or the high end KRKs.

You don’t say what it is that you don’t like about the highs, but if you are looking for monitors that reproduce the highs very well you should consider Adam audio which have ribbon tweeters. I have the A7, which I love, but these have been replaced now with the A7X. That said with your budget you could look at the S2X.

One thing I would say is that it took me some time to get used to just how clear the top end of these monitors is, the highs were set too low on other speakers until I became familiar with how the sound translates. For this reason I don’t think Adam are for everyone.

You want to look at Adams or Genelecs. Start there.

I recently spent ages listening to mostly all the available monitors out there including top brands like Adam, Genelec, Focal and Dynaudio. what I finally bought is Gnelec 6010+5040 sub. these are the entry level but still they sound amazing even when its on the lowest volume. They look good too and the build quality is fantastic. Have a look at them. In general I would say you can’t go wrong with any of Genelec monitors. If you have the Budget you can get yourself 8020+7050 2.1 system which is one of the bests out there…

Good Luck

Nothing is wrong with them, for the price they are very good. But I think this:

is a little optimistic for a pair of monitors that cost less than £400. There is a reason that people spend at lot of money on monitors.

Fair enough, I guess it all comes down to personal preference and budget.

I went out and bought a pair of Yamaha HS80M’s yesterday to replace my HS50M’s so I could justify my recommendation, and what a difference!

The low end I get now from the new pair are just fantastic. There’s a much richer bass response compared to the 50M’s, while keeping the original clarity in the highs and mids.

I stick with my recommendation. :stuck_out_tongue:
