ok shoot me if im being silly.

something ive always thought of and never got the answer to…

if you convert a wav file to a 192 mp3 and then save that file again as a 192 will the sound quality be less than if you just converted the file once?

The answer is yes, each time you save the file with compression you lower the quality. It is called generation loss.
