Anyone else think these suck? I’m all for putting ***** over bad words, because the implied part is all you need. But really? “fish yeah” “i don’t give a cool?” WTF is that??? Back to the asterisks please!!! Sorry, some little things just really urk me! Like censorship(especially baddddddddd censorship)!

just a small note on this one
we are about to post some new forum rules which will cover (amongst other things) language used by people whilst using our forums.
we want you to be nice to one another as we think what we are trying to create in sonic academy should have a certain vibe. we also want sonic academy to be a website where people of all ages (including school and college students, more mature musicians etc) can come and learn about music technology and not be subjected to expletive laden forum threads.
this is especially important as the forums get busier and more and more people come on board.
we understand that you guys can feel strongly about certain things but as grown ups we feel this can be done without using colourful language and this can certainly be done without abusing one another (or us).
so, the message is moderate your language whilst on this forum. for now, we are being nice and are replacing swear words - in future we will have to ban people if they persist (and that is not something that we want to have to do).

i don’t see any problem, personally i think it will make for a better forum if these rules are implied.
I’m cool with what ever, but by doing so, you suggest that a curs word is really worse than another word. Dang is no different than the d word. That is just silly.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but curse words came about because a queen in england or somewhere decided she did not like certain words. I could be totally wrong. If someone knows the real story behind curse words, let us know.

I understand your point. My point was merely that the replacements were silly and didn’t make any sense. Actually changing the entire meaning of some sentences. And I am specifically referring to my PM’s and emails. I can understand you editing and looking over my public posts, but you don’t have any right to edit what I say privately. If I’m sending a PM to another member, that means it’s private, and the site still edits it. That would be like microsoft editing hotmail because they also have a blog thats public. I hope you can see my point without taking this as an attack or challenge, but if your going to implement rules, do it in the public, but leave us to our own demise in the PM’s. I can refrain from cussing, but I shouldn’t have to in places that you shouldn’t be listening…

we dont look at anyones PMs or edit posts… its all done automatically in the profanity filter.

I was just merely saying that it’s perfectly fine for the software if you will, to edit us in the public, but there should be some sort of setting that allows us to be as vulgar as we want in the PM’s. You wouldn’t have time to do tutorials if you were just sitting there reading our PM’s! 
Anyhow, it’s not the end of the world either way. Sometimes I just like to put my thoughts out there and see what other people think…
