Need a little feedback

wrong place I know but can someone have a listen to this, mainly I need someone to listen to the mix down cause I have a habit of missing things and not being told till after I send it!

So a lend of your ears would be great! Cheers:

Wayne Fontaine - Evolution by Wayne Fontaine

Hey wayne,

Few things the little sittar bit that comes in during the breakdown sounds a bit brittle, mabey try giving it a bit of warmth. Also even tho it sounds delayed i think it needs more reverb, its just missing a bit of wet smushiness.

After your break and build up the main section i feel is coming through really strong drums and bass side but the melody aspects are really dropping in level  and its not really givng a big impresson of everything high flying and crashing back in.

Hope this helps…

sure does mate, just the kind of feedback I need! cheers, I’ll get on to that now

Your drum roll could do with filtering bro. Agree with the brittle sittar.

cheers guys, made a few changes and I think it sounds better at least so hopefully it is!

still a little brittle but some eq automation and twin tubes has helped during the buld

Not sure whether you already did something to that drum roll, but it still needs that necessary filtering. Because it has so much of low end, the energy is gone when the drop hits.

Keep rolling off more of the low end while you’re progressing to the drop. And the drop has all the low end again. So people will go beserk.

This really sounds as some good ol’ trance to me. Tight production!

Good opening–for me the first 30 seconds is when I decide whether I’m going to listen to a whole track, and this kept my interest–nice job.

I would agree at 2:22 the drum roll sounds flat–you might also double it up with a compressed sampled drum which crossfades in for a full warm effect at climax.

You know I kinda like a little brittle sitar the first time it comes in, but then it could modulate to something warmer–or maybe unexpected (like the sfx around 0:39).

I think that would be the thing that stands out most–it has a very polished sound–but putting in another unexpected element (like 3:11) right after climax for a longer stretch would push it over the top and really grab my attention for a replay.

In the break the sittar and the other melody bit at certain points hit at the same time and they cause a bit of a clash i feel.

Thanks for all the comments guys, they have all helped

I really like tht little noise that drops in pitch just before it crashes back in, ive heard that in a few tracks and i think its a great little effect…

the sub boom, sine wave and pitch lfo or from a vengence sample, which ever is best!

could you explain ho to do it with sylent wayne? I really need to know this lol…

Use a sine wave, set Mod Env 1 to Pitch AB, turn the amount a little bit down (-2 or so perhaps), and put the attack up around half-way and you should be very close.

the breakdown is bad imo. To be frank, its just really boring. If i was on a dancefloor when that song was played, I would be looking at my watch wondering how long the break is lasting. Either cut it in half or add a ton more elements, because its not giving me anywhere near a hands in the air moment that a killer trance track would. Keep working on the buildup, even if you do cut it in half. The peak is weak too. I should be going in a frenzy. Im not. Add more high end elements there. The brain associates frenzy with higher frequency noises. Also, the sitar is annoying. If you want to keep it in, I would highly recommend making some kind of note changes, key change, or pattern change, because its putting me to sleep. Change these things and you might have something decent. If not, its the work of a beginner.

Ouch,

Not ouch, just the truth. At its current state it would bomb on the dance floor. There is so much garbage and mediocre music on Beatport. This song would fit in one of those two categories. However, with changes and some hard work, this could be a good track. But its NOWHERE near done.
