Need a 'soundcard/headphone/monitor' splitter

My soundcard only has stereo outs which I have running directly into my monitors. I want to reference my mix using headphones but theres nowhere to plug them in!

I know there is a device/adaptor thing that will allow me to add headphones but I have lost the link and have spent hours on audio cabling sites searching for headphone splitters/audio splitters/hundreds of different types of audio adaptors to no avail.

Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.

buy a small mixer, or a dedicated headphone preamp or a monitors controller

any passive solution (cable splitter) will be rubbish

I actually have the same deal with my APC40. I’m not sure how i can make a queue mix out to my headphones without it going out of the master mix. I’ve got a dedicated headphone out on my converter(M-Audio Firewire 410) but i’m not sure how to tell Live to make the headphone out the “queue channel”? I don’t want to buy a mixer because i was under the impression my APC40 would have something of the sort. Any help would be very appreciated

This is a good post, i have the same issue with my soundcard, annoys me to no end.

If there is such splitter then can you let me know where to get it! Cheers

There is definately such a splitter, someone on another forum linked me to it last year, was about £20 from what I remember. I’ll keep looking and post back here if I find it!

Nice one - Just googled and found this:

I knew what I wanted existed but had no idea as to what it was called! Cheers Sean.

Actually, that device I just posted might not be any good. It seems that the box will act as an amp for any output signal and you don’t want this going into active monitors.

The review on that site wasn’t very good.

I wonder if there is a way to turn off the amp and just have the signal running through unaffected? Bit more research required I think.

This one seems to be a lot better but pricey. Quest continues for something in the £30 range.

it seems that the first one, has a ‘daisy chain’ phono out, so you should be able to plug the monitors, second one gives you a full control over volume of your headphones and monitors, you can also try this http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/behringer-xenyx-502-premium-mixer--31558

The second one looks like its going to be added on my plan to buy list
