Hey guys, Ive been trying to look around and find out how to do this sound that I’ve been doing after for a while. It seems to be in a lot of the newer progressive/electro house productions lately, and I’m really trying to figure out what it is. Here is one example, [url]Marco V - Analogital (Hard Rock Sofa Remix) - YouTube at about 55seconds to 1:02 ish, 1:26, and 1:29, and so on. That kind of reverbed snare sound. Now I’ve tried a whole bunch of different layer snares/claps and put reverb on them, and none of them sound quite like it. Ive also tried a snare with another channel playing a constant white noise, and side chain gate under the white noise so it plays when the snare plays, I feel i got close but still not quite… Im not sure what it is exactly… But it just seems so much punchier and in your face in this track and all the other ones than the ones I’ve been making. Can anybody help me out? A couple more examples here. [url]- YouTube In this one, the first one hits at 29 seconds, 1:30, 1:45 and etc… I was also thinking maybe its like a lower tom + snare combo. Im not quite sure. Any ideas??? Thanks!
Take snare
Slap a high pass filter on it and filter out most of the low-end
Add reverb (Make sure that only higher frequencies are affected aka high pass filter the reverb)
Put a band-pass on the whole thing to give it that, well, filtered sound
Adjust the resonance to taste
