New Midi Keyboard

So, basically I produce with my macbook pro, Live and my headphones. But I say to myself, maybe if I play the notes rather than drawing them with my little mouse, I could have the impression to really make some music :stuck_out_tongue:

So Iā€™m looking for a midi keyboard, practical, maybe already tested out by some of you, not too expensive.

Any tips?

Thanks

I have the LPK25. Its good for what I need it for. Its not packed with features, but I really dont care about midi keyboard features. I just like it for sketching out ideas and whatnot.

maudio oxygen 49 is the good value for a decent price! i have it it works great!

I agree with Howie, I love Akaiā€™s small keyboards for portable laptop production. I upgraded my LPK25 to the new MPK Mini (basically an LPK25 and LPD8 stuck together).

Another thing I notice is that when I play a part (instead of drawing notes) it feels more expressive and has a better melodic line.

You know, I also have a big Novation Nocturn 49 because Future Music ranked it in their top 10 midi controllers, but find itā€™s too big and bulky to take around with me everywhere.

Just had a look at the Akai MPK Mini, sweet little thing! Does it also have a Pitch & Modwheel?

Any good links to check prices? What did you pay for yours?

Also looking for other keyboards to compare, so send me the links

I use the 8 knobs as modwheel, volume, etc. Works best with software that has ā€œmidi learnā€ otherwise you need to enter the midi cc #s. Out of the box though one knob maps to volume and one to modulation.

In the States I like B&H:

(normally goes for $99, but they have it right now for $79)
