I wanted to show you guys my newest track: Sleeping Wolvesbr
As my other track it also consists out of 2 party. and the second drop is always the highlight of the track, in my opinionbr

Hey Clexxx!br
br
The elements are nice, but through my headphones it sounds really muddly and kinda over compressed. It sounds like everything is cranked right up to max and it really put me off. I would like to hear it redone with a re mixdown and some crafty eqing as I enjoyed feel of a track :)br

Hi mate,br
br
Okay, this track has some potentially nice elements, BUT i have just had to stop listening to it after a couple of mins, as it was hurting my ears through my speakers!br
br
This is why:br
br
The kick sounds very flat and has no punchbr
br
Very over-compressedbr
br
Alot of noticeable, unpleasant distortionbr
br
Way too much noise in the trackbr
br
I do really like the floaty chords and synths in the track though - they create a great atmosphere (well if they weren’t so over-compressed and distorted.br
br
All in all, this has potential, it has some nice elements in it - but the track is completely doomed by mass over-compression, noise and distortion!br
br

guess you are right, just needed to hear from someone else :)br
i’ll reupload it again when i have soundcloud premium :)br
br
i dont know where the distortion came from, since i didnt use any, but i hear you guys. I’ll redo it again as soon as i have time and energy

the distorsion is from the compression/limiting

+1 - if you crack up everything too hard through your compressor(s) and limiters - it just slices all the tops of the transients and causes horrible distortion.br
br
For now, i would recommend only compressing quite litely, and take the limiter off the track - then re-upload and i’d be keen to hear the difference. then you might have a track!

okay thanks for the feedback, I’ll go over it again, I thought it was a little overcompressed but i couldn’t hear it on my speakers, i dont know.br
in the meanwhile you got to listen to it on low volume haha

If you don’t have very good speakers that allow you to really hear what’s going on, then in terms of the limiting at the end of the track on the master channel - aim to only have about 1-3dB of gain reduction on the limiter maximum. Basically, it should only just be tickling the limiter every so often.br
br
As for compression, you can have a little more gain reduction depending on the type of sound that is going through the compressor - but for most stuff, you shouldn’t really be seeing much more than about 5-10dB of gain reduction maximum.br
br
But in light of the state your track is in at the moment - i would recommend airing very much on the side of caution, and completing a version of the track with as little compression and limiting as you can get away with.br
br
At least then this will get you something that is musical and pleasing to the ears! Okay, it might not be that loud and punchy, but you can always fix this afterwards once you have a track that sounds nice!

okay guys i reuploaded the track  listen again please br

Better but I think the bass is still a bit too wide and overpowering. It takes up alot of space in the track…br
br
I would try to eq it a bit to thin it out and make sure its mono’d to give you a tighter bottem end at the drop.

thx for listening. I’ll try that

Hi mate, br
br
I think the most of it you got from the other comments, my earphones are not really good for mixing advice but the kick is still pretty flat from what I can hear. br
br
If you want the big bass I’d remove some of the stereo at least, then duplicate the bass track and mono that version, cut out the top end and work on the bass frequencies to give you the sub… br
br
layer the same sound but effecting it different can really thicken the final resulting soundbr
br

thx for the advice. br
i upgraded the my studio a few weeks ago. br
in the future my sounds should be better :)br
in fact I made a cool deep house track, but the mixing isnt done yet. I’ll post it here in a few weeks
