Just like to thank the guys at sonic for this - it has mad my tunes sound so much better and in key which is what i was struggling with. Cant wait for the tutorial on dance music theory and also the tribal one.
Thanks once again guys.

I had never even noticed Scale. I think it will help me a lot. I had never really used chord as it always went out of key before
yea, i think that was the best tech tip by far, i dont know why i never looked in to using the scale plug-in, makes perfect sense as ive been studying up on my newly bought music theory book
Wicked tip!
However it does piss me off that the only usefull bits we’ve had in the last couple of months is two tips which are free to non subscribers anyways.
For those 2 tips, it’s cost me £16 (2 x £8).
you have a good point roben, the tech tips for me have also been the most benefical of the other content that has been on sa, i’m honestly not super thrilled about the new release schedule.

Dude, relax. You know what’s going on. You have made it clear about your displeasure of the release schedule, but why bring it to an area that is giving props to the newest tech tip. Cmon dude, you know whats up. Don’t hijack the thread yo.
Excellent tech tip - once again it has given me a lot to think about. I’m trying to keep looking on the bright side regarding the new schedule - if the recent tech tips are a sign of what’s to come, perhaps the wait will be worth it. I’m still a bit peeved though that if I’d subscribed AFTER the site rejig, I wouldn’t have wasted two months subscription money…Still, thanks for this offering SA!

I think my subscription run out so I for one aint complaining. (which makes a change) lol
Cheers Roben for subsidising my free tech tip.

Actually this is the first place i’ve ever pointed out my annoyance.
I love the site and i do beleive we get good value for money, i just don’t like the fact that i’m paying when others are not and they’re getting the same as me.
This stuff needs to be subscribers only.
Tricky one roben /howie think tech tips are a great ad/ pull for the site ,
but maybe we could take this one to councill forums as i see a storm brewin.
what are the ‘council’ forums?
roben is right, there’s been nothing for months for us paying subscribers.
i did enjoy the tech tip, and i got a little from it, but i dont think we should be paying for the adverts when everyone else gets the info for free - i paid for the subscription to be ahead of the game, not finance the education of it

Egg do you honestly think the user council has any real power in this matter.?
there’s no way a handful of paper tigers will change the destiny of SA now.
Sometimes the powers to be make decisions that are irreversible.
put simply the path is forged and that path is one of expansion.
Its pretty much **** or bust for SA now.
Personally I think SA will fall and not through lack of effort but because I think they have overestimated the amount of potential subscribers out there without taking into account the re-subscription takeup.
Its all very complicated especially since the cycle per account runs annually and isn’t synchronized
Time will tell i guess
My personal feeling is that Roben is bang on.
Take care of your paying subscribers at all costs because at the end of the day they are the core of any business.
From where I am standing and from what I’ve read here in the forums recently many existing customers are getting pretty pissed off about the way things are heading and quite rightly so imo.
An an x subscriber I have no motive in saying how I see things and aren’t bound by the laws of physics here anymore. lol
PS inchlo …user council = end of lesson stay behind and give teachers an apple

p.s user council = people that have way more knowledge than you do !

No conflicts mate, only differences of opinion.
“p.s user council = people that have way more knowledge than you do !:D”
I don’t think thats fair to say buddy, it is just a section for the long standing and committed sonic academy members who have been with the site pretty much since day one, to have their say and give their thoughts on what needs adding/changing/ etc to the site.
I have said from the start ‘council’ sounds too elitism, however it’s in no way supposed to be anything like that. After all, each and every person on this site are all here for one thing and that is the love of music, producing and learning. We’re all here for the same thing and no one is better than anyone else, no matter how long you’ve been a member here, or how skilled/talented you are.
Anyone can be in the ‘council’, just contribute regularly to the site in some way or other.
Anyways you two, lets not all fall out over differences in opinon. Keep smiling
“My personal feeling is that Roben is bang on.”
Thanks mate.

Krome you do make very valid points. The thing that is the problem here is that Sonic is trying to cater to all whilst not having the full resource just yet to do that.
Too little to long.
o.p @you and howie was tounge in cheek dude .
If krome takes it different then cool ,thats his deal .
and the user council would’nt be there if they did’nt listen!
sorry if offence has been taken im just fed up with peeps raggin on this site , im positive sonic academy will be here well after ive’stopped making music !
DO YOU ALL HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT A FANTASTIC RESOURCE YOU ALL HAVE ?
sorry for shoutin , brendan
Listen everyone, all I was saying that if you want to bash SA for the release schedule (which has been addressed by Kev, Bryan, and Phil a few times, keep it on those threads. If you don’t know where they are, and Roben you know damn straight where they are, I will post them for you below.
http://www.sonicacademy.com/forum/Topic11041-8-1.aspx
http://www.sonicacademy.com/forum/Topic10468-8-1.aspx
I am saying that if you are not happy, do not hijack someone’s thread because you are not happy with the release schedule.
If I said “hey ______ your new track is dope”, and someone said in response “dude, you just got evicted and just lost your job”, would that be cool? Chill out and don’t take the OP’s thread. He was giving SA some props.
And if you don’t want to subscribe, then no one is forcing anyone to be here. No one wants anyone to leave, but we can’t force you to be here. If you are waiting for a new video and can not wait, then start watching the old videos and brush up on your skills.
howie , you also saw some comments on this thread that deviated from the core topic and made a comment on them. Did you yourself highjack this thread. i think not. Sometimes topics open up new things to talk about related to or not the thread, thats just how conversation progresses some times. I think if the person who started this thread is pissed or feels like they were hijacked then they would say something about it. I think this post opened up some thoughts that some of us wanted to get off our chest and thats a good thing, we all are pretty good about being respectful of one another and this type of discussion I think is valid in this thread if the conversation takes us here.
as for the user council roben ive asked kevin numerous times about letting me in to the user council with no avail. Ive only been a member for 8-10 months but feel like i contribute to the forums a lot and try to help out when i can. I no longer care about that but still plan to be a part of the site.
i think we all have to make a decision . If your unhappy with the site right now either discontinue coming here or make the choice to wait and see if things improve. i have a month to month subscription so obviously you know my decision as of now.
IMO im about 60/40 that things are gonna improve. For me the site has changed beacuse when i first joined, I knew absolutely nothing about producing as i just started making my own music. SA gave me the base to build my skills on. Now Im a different producer, i can finish a song without looking at a tut or maybe get close to making a sound that i want with a synth. There are a lot of resources out there for us to help along the way with producing that i get elsewhere. I still look forward to the new htsl vids but feel now that I will still be okay with out them.
Im still here and gonna wait to see. I think we have a great community and a great forum. At least we have that if nothing else.
@Tommy How did I hijack anything. I told him to relax. There were other threads that had to do with their displeasure with the releases. Go to those threads, not the one where someone give props to something else. And we are on the user council because of our involvement and knowledge with production and because we are very active in the forums with helping others out.
