Alright Lads,br
Just signed up last night. Watched the Vince Watson vids right away. Been looking at the site for a while and Vince Watson vids and the ‘how to make deep house’ vids finally sold it to me. After the first 3 hours I was glad I signed up. Got some great workflow tips and the section vince does on 5th 7th chords root note variation is tutorial gold! Not to mention the way he EQs sounds to cut negative frequencies peaks.br
Anyway I’ve nailed down a style of deep house I want to produce and was wondering if one of the SA tutors could could point me in the right direction by listening to my latest track? What i’d like to know is what areas I should really focus on improving based on the following track. Also any tips on improving the track would be great:br

Thanks in Advancebr
Kieran.
Hmmm im not sure what i would change on that track… everything seems very good.br
br
Maybe a better bigger kick sample and a few more interesting percussion hits. Some more spot FX and more drama and creativity with your transitions.br
br
Its a nice track and progresses well and keeps you involved.
Cheers Phil,br
Few people have said the bottom end sounds a bit muddy in places. I know its caused by the chord timbre clashing with the bass as the lead sweeps through certain sections of its filter.Thing is when I try and do a high pass cut on the chords the track looses all its energy. Any suggestions?br
Pretty cool track for sure, interesting and such. But there is something off with the bottom end especially in the start. Cant explain it really but it felt wrong, Try shortening the decay on the kick at the start or low cut the other percussive sound at 80-100 Hz
Yeah i was thinking that although it has a bit of clashing going on thats such a fundamental thing in the track you wouldn’t want to ruin it.br
br
you could try doing some subtle sidechainig with the bass and chords to help even them out a bit.br
br
I think you should get it wrapped up without to much else and work on the next one… I think for this type of stuff you really need to be getting a large amount done until one idea really jumps out.br
br
Was speaking to a pro the other day who was saying they only get 1 really god track out of every 7 they do.
I’m onto the next one already Phil. Think timbre selection got me on ‘play it’. I thought I could fix it in the mix down.br
Learnt from my mistake there and everything is sitting great in my new track just from mixing on the fly while writing. Think Vince Watsons Eq techniques helped a lot.br
I actually deleted a half arranged track and all effects chains, went back to the session view and set up like Vince. Worked a treat, so much space already and I have not even used any reverb, panning or my transient designer!br
Yeah sometimes tracks will really gel well… just gota keep making them.
