No Basslines in Tribal?

hi guys

trying to get a tribal track together but having abit of trouble with the bassline fitting with (frequency wise) the kick toms and other low end percussion…

been listening to some tribal to hear how others get around this frequency clash problem, but not really hearng any actual basslines in their tracks…

so does tribal not actually have a traditional bassline?

yeah you could use tuned toms as the bassline

i use kontakt. how would you suggest i get the toms pitch perfect?

just use your ears… if they sound in tune to you they will sound in tune to anyone listening.

ok phil thank you. didnt know if there was a little trick i wasnt aware of, like using auto tune or some other tuning software.

i guess you could try a guitar tuner if you really wanted them 100% accurate

ye i used to try and use a guitar tuner when i was trying to tune my kicks but i think cos its such a low frequency the tuner doesnt register the note.

Try pitching it up at least an octave or more… once you have it in tune to the note you want, drop it by 12 or 24 or whatever you need.

Pitching it way up will allow a Tuner Plug to be more accurate & register a note. Having the Sample in a Sampler will make the whole thing so much easier too. Playing a Synth with a simple sine next to it as you alter it gives you the 2nd opinion

ye thought of that but it didnt work either. just kept showing it as an A… then E… the G or whatever… not great at all. :hehe:

think ill have to just play it by ear (no pun intended). or maybe get a better tuner… lol  was using the tuner in guitar rig 2

You could use your Spectrum, then play your sound and it will show you which key the sound is, works for me anyways.
