No sounds on webpages!

I saw a couple of your HTSL courses and need to say that they are absolutely amazing. Also I need to say that your web site is very poor designed. As I already say It is impossible to see the list of all your courses, next thing is that when I click on some course link the embedded video starts to play - thats very annoying. It is one of the main professional web design rules - no sounds on pages, until user wish to hear them. A person sit in silence, or, worse, listening to his music, and don’t expect to hear anything else. If one want to see the video - there is a play button. Otherwise I need to be fast enough to hit pause button, thats very annoying.

I think this is where the Sonic Academy Radio would really come in handy, a little pop up window (or section that plays in the corner) as soon as people come on to the website would be good.

The font on the website could do with being a bit larger and friendlier too.

As a web designer myself, yeah ok that rule is generally true. However it is contextual too. This is a site specifically dedicated to video tutorials about music production.

Bear in mind all the videos require clicking on a dedicated link to access too. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise then that there are videos with music behind them…

As for the autostarting thing… youtube’s videos auto start too, nothing unusual about that. No diss, just pointing out.

Agree. I think Youtube is the only exception. But it is all about expectation. Going to Youtube I know that I’ll be watching videos, in all other cases I don’t expect it, and when I hear sounds on a pages… Honestly, it happens quite very rare, but I hate it so much, that I close such site immediately and forever ))) I don’t expect music on web, It frightens me, it is usually too loud, sometimes you don’t guess where the music come from, mixed with your tunes. Youtube is fine, that save me a movement to hit play. Though the absolutely ideal solution would be to have an option in account preferences. Myspace also goes to that list, I know that when I open an artist page I’ll be forced to listen to his ****, so I need to wait the moment the player loads and click on pause immediately. Though they have the option to play or not to play on load, but it is the artist decision option, not visitor.
