Noob question - how to embed youtube vid into post?

I’ve tried pasting the embed code from youtube and it just shows the actual code when I preview the post.  I’ve also tried code and url brackets but its not showing the video either.

Must be something simple enough but I’m out of ideas atm!

+1

I tried everything too but to no avail - I think its a conspiracy :stuck_out_tongue:

click on insert hyper link

Thanks Jon - sorted

It didn’t work for me - it just inserted a hyperlink url.  I wanted the actual video to appear in the post.

Ok so what I did is click the hyper link button and then copy and paste the embed code making sure i delete the http:// in the box that came up

Kieran Mach,

hmmm I see what you mean.

looks like you have to copy the embed and not the http.

no need to click on the insert hyperlink widget here in the forum just a plain old paste with no deleting required.

Yep the embed seems the way to go.

are you guys using firefox? i just copy the embed code, and paste it on to the reply box

Test :hehe:

Thanks Tom seems like the easiest solution is always the last one i try :stuck_out_tongue:

Right click the video then click on ‘copy embed html’, then go into your SA message and click ‘edit - paste’ or CTRL + V.

I’ve been here for a while and posted more than a few youtube links …if you don’t believe just look back over my history. But i also post on other boards and each one varies. So it aint user knowledge.

Now here’s my critism and its leveled directly at SA.

Why oh why don’t they bother posting stickies?

This question comes up a lot …helpers chip in and it gets resolved and then a month or so later the same thing happens.

Its not like it takes more than a few seconds to make a thread sticky or provide an FAQ.

doesnt work for me guys

<object style=“height: 344px; width: 425px”><param name=“movie” value=“http://www.youtube.com/v/ab-mViYje7g”><param name=“allowFullScreen” value=“true”><param name=“allowScriptAccess” value=“always”><embed src=“http://www.youtube.com/v/ab-mViYje7g” type=“application/x-shockwave-flash” allowfullscreen=“true” allowScriptAccess=“always” width=“425” height=“344”></object>

Weird. I copied and pasted the exact text as you mussi81???

mussi81,

might be worth first pasting the youtube embed code into a plain text editor and make a comparison with the original embed code from youtube to see if something in your browser is intercepting the code and altering it slightly.

As Roben says the code you posted here works. But thats after another copy and paste.

You could always paste via the text editor. Assuming its your browser.
