Note / noise with rising pitch

im sure this has been explained somewhere so if someone could even direct me to the tut or thread where it has been gone thru previously thats fine.

i want to know how to do that thing where the note or white noise plays with a rising pitch up to the point of climax to induce that pavlovian response that we all get

tried a couple of things but im obviosly on the wrong track

cheers

White noise contains equal power within a fixed bandwidth at any center frequency. So changing the pitch wont do any good. What you need to do is modulate the filter of a white noise oscillator. This can be done either with sampler or with Operator. I find Operator to be the better option. Then you can modulate the filter in either the envelopes or via automation.

is that in ableton?

im a cubase person meself…so is that a filter sweep rather than actual rising pitch?

Yeah…sorry. I didnt realize you are on cubase. Yeah though. Filter sweep. High pass filter and automate the rise. Add reverb and delay for flavor!

cool, theres an article on filter sweeps in cubase5 in sound on sound this month

so that should cover it i reckon!!

cheers
