Hey guys wondering what peoples top 3 synths are for main room/trance leads I love sylenth but even with layering I think it still sounds a bit thin compared to nexus, I would love to know if there are any synths are better for creating those big bright super-saws then nexus.
Some people may say why not just use nexus, but I feel like I would prefer to try and put a little bit of originality on the sound which is why I am looking for something to match it.
Looking forward to what thoughts you guys may have.
have you tried creating a big supersaw… with a few octaves some eq and reverb then resampling it and putting it in to simpler?
you can get some big megasaw type sounds quite easily. play with different detune values and different octaves.
I thought about resampling but then the problem I had is what sampler do you use that will sound as good as sylenths cut off filter, for example when a track builds up with the filter cutoff down making a pluck then opens up into the massive saw.
Also while were on the topic of resampling I have been playing around with resampling for basslines, but one thing I noticed is you can have a really crisp sound resample it put it into simpler have it playing exactly the same volume and note but it always sounds weaker then the original, is this due to the sound being compressed when sample to wav or something like that, and is there a way to get around this?
you can set up filter envs in simpler… the filter sounds decent enough too.
Its prob just a volume thing… simpler defaults to -12db which can be a bit quiet.
Ok thanks phil,
I will check those things out. Also one last thing, I have noticed when layering supersaws you tend to get a lot of white noise from them when played together are there frequencies I should be looking at cutting to help with this or is there a better way around it?
