Or you a clicker or a player?

Do you click in the grid or do you play things in via a MIDI keyboard/Drum Pad?

Both

Play then click all my mistakes. You?

Personally I play, i’d rather. I’d be happy clicking buttons on a hardware sequencer but painting with a mouse into a DAW feels soulless. I think this explains why a lot of music this days really feels like it’s lacking a soul or humanity.

What type of music are you producing?

I think that playing isn’t really valid where I’m concerned. I just need to be ae to create noise lol but yeah I don’t occasionally play some notes but most of it is click and see

Both

I have you know young man each click is well thought out and mathematically equated, then sent to Jamie for further analysis, who in turn makes a 4 hour yt tut with a a dissertation attached on its merits

Both.  But I don’t think it matters which method you use as long as it sounds good when you’re done.

Bit of everything, downtempo, uptempo… I just don’t feel connected with the music if I don’t. I understand that plenty like to click though - and sometimes good music does come from it.

Once again dom you are wrong. In fact a lot of producers are doing a lot to there melodies etc to make them seem more human in feel. The same applies for people using groove templates. There is nothing wrong with drawing a few notes in a grid, but shorten a few notes, move a few slightly late or early. The key is subtlety.

Also when are these mindless, pointless topics gonna end?

Jan, relax man, I was just offering my personal viewpoint and asking what other people here do as I was curious.

Give me one of Dom’s threads ANY day over J4’s listmania.

This is a decent one Jan - How is it pointless or mindless??

You’re wrong again Man

And so far, Slender still maintains an A+ merit-rating! Good stuff there…

i click if I’m lazy…playing a keyboard can get some real cool melodies that you wouldn’t otherwise get by clicking

I tend to do both, however recently i played(Keyboard, midi controller) and definatley felt like i had much more control over my track…Also did this with my automation instead of writing it in…Far more interesting doing it that way IMO
