Organizing VST's For Ableton

Any recommendation on how to organize your VST’s? Because Ableton only allows you to scan one folder, it looks like you have to install all of them inside the same folder. Is this the best method for doing it?

Yes your right you do have to put them all in the same folder however i have split mine into subfolders and named them after the vst etc.

i.e when you click on the pluins tab it will then open up sub folders - it just keeps it more organise in my opinion.

as mentioned just make sub folders, i have mine as synths, drum machines, fx, mastering etc

Okay so for instance with Kontakt 2 that I bought, I would want to actually change the default installation (when I install it) to point to a folder I would create called “VST’s” or whatever (instead of c:\program files\NI on Windows)?

Or do I install these VST’s to their default location (that the installer chooses), and then just drag certain files to the “VST” folder I create and then point Ableton at that?
